Iram of the Pillars
I. Background information. Many lost cities have been discovered by finding their remains which reflect great ancient civilizations and cultures such as Petra , Thebes , Tikal and others.( Rough Guides,2019 ). However, there are lost cities that are known as legends and fantasies since there is no physical evidence of their existance, for example Iram of the Pillars . Iram or Ubar is a lost city believed to have been buried under the Arabian sands. This city was mentioned in religious, historical and modern resources such as: Holy Quran . (Religion) Chapter 89 (Al Fajir), verses 6-14. In the Quran, Iram was described as “ Erum of the Pillars, the like of which was never created in the lands ” ( Translation by Itali ).
