In this post, I will show my sketches, inspirations and art work regarding Iram of the Pillars.

(Figure.1) shows my first illustration of Iram which was based on my imagination. At first I was happy about it, but later it seemed wrong. So I’ve decided to look at other illustrations for inspirations.

The sketches above were colored digitally by using (Clip Studio Paint). I wanted to do more experiments with the atmosphere so I've planned to make two visions. First one will be during the night (Fig.2) while the second one on the day light (Fig.3)

Changing the color schemes made me also do changes on the land and the buildings.
To explain it more:



(Figure.4) is an example of a photograph which reflects the invisibility of the sands in the distance and focuses on the source of light and its surroundings. I've applied this concept on my illustration as it shown in (Figure.5). Also, I've settled Iram to be under the "Sahara desert" , therefore there is no sky or any source of light except the sphere that floating above the hand. Any buildings or terrains in the background won’t be visible.

The idea of adding pyramids above was to emphasize the direction of the light from the sphere in a narrow space.
The drawing details will be applied more on the village to make it more evident as shown in (Figure 6)

The path that the characters will take will be more visible and drawn with lighter colors so it would be displayed clearly.

Isle of WakWak

(Fig.1) (Book of Wonders) 20 May 2019 WakWak Tree Isle of WakWak or WakWak tree is one of the Arabian myths that was mentioned in Wonders of Creation book by Zakarīyā Ibn Muḥammad al-Qazwīn.  The WakWak tree produces fruits which have the shape of a woman's head. These heads make the sound "Wak" when the sun rises,hence the name of the tree.According to onomatopoeia in Arabic, the sound "Wak" is the sound of a rooster. Some stories said that these fruits can talk and they tell prophesies as well. (Figure.1) shows an illustration from the Book of Wonders were the tree is producing a fully grown women instead of just their heads.  There are so many fascinated stories about mythical trees in different mythologies . Such as Kalpa tree from Indian mythology , Nariphon from Thailand myths and Jinmenju tree from Japanese mythology. Illustrating for a vedio game.

My sister Abeer had developed a website and a video game related to the Palestinian culture and folk story. She asked me if I could illustrate backgrounds for the game and design the characters in the game and for the website. Characters: (Fig.1) Shows the main character's design "Mahmoud" in the game. While (Fig.2) shows an illustration of Mahmoud on the website where there are information and background knowledge about him. Figure.1: Character design Figure.2: Mahmoud Figure.3: Mahmoud's father design Background : (Figure 4: Background outside) (Fig.4) shows the outside background of the game. The game is set up in Bethlehem so I tried to resemble the city in the background by adding the masjid and the church. (Figure 5: Background Inside) (Fig.5) Shows the background inside the house where the character "Mahmoud" is talking with his father. Here is a short video of the game.
