Emarding trends

Nowadays with social media , it has become easier for artists to look for inspirations whether on Instagram , Tumblr or Deviantart. As an artist, I'm always following trends regarding specific themes to look for ideas or motivations . Hashtags and trends could be fun , entertaining , inspiring  and motivating for artists around the world and for the ones who have an art block.

Here are examples of trends that I got engaged with in the past few years:

  1.  In October, most of the artists participate in Inktober by following and drawing the prompt list . Some artists make their own list and share it with others to join them as well. Participating on this trend usually helped me with my art block and kept me motivated to draw everyday. I didn't follow the official prompt list but made my own, in my mind.

             2. In November, another drawing challenge takes place and it is called Huevember . It's similar to Inktober, however the list doesn't include certain theme but certain colors. Everyday, the art work must be colored with one hue in addition to a variety of lights and shades. Here is a link to Huevember artwork.

                 3. Draw this in your style is a another trend where artists draw their original character and share it with their followers on Instagram to draw it in their own style. Some artists share their follower's art on their stories and sometimes they create their own hashtag.

      My participation

In July 2018, one of my favorite artists drew his character as shown (Fig.1) under the hashtag #drawthisinyourstyle and #drawramuneinyourstyle . So I drew his character in my style as shown in (Fig.2).

      My Illustration.

Out of fun, I did an illustration of my original character as shown in (Fig.3) and my little brother drew it in his own style.

      • Meet the original character
This trend helped me with my MA project to introduce my main characters in the story.
By following  the hashtag #meetmyoc , it inspired me to do my own design to represent the characters as shown below.
